You can simply visit their website, choose your flights, and when you’re asked how you would like to pay, choose to pay cash at their office. They will issue a Flight Reservation that is valid for 24-48 hours. Just reserve the day before your submission of application.

But what if KLM or Qatar Airways doesn’t fly to your destination? This is where travel agencies can help.

How long can they hold the reservation?

It depends on many factors such as:

·         Airline. Each airline has their own policy when it comes to blocking period lengths.

·         Airline Booking Class

·         Travel Period

Gazelle will be informing you of how long the Flight Reservation will be valid. If the flights that best fit your needs can only be held/blocked for a short period, you can tell Gazelle to send the reservation document when the date of your embassy appointment or submission is close. You can still book with them now and arrange to have it sent to you on a specific date and remind them when that date is near for good measure.

How do I book flight reservation?

1.         Fill out the form below. Choose between REGULAR or RUSH. If you want to include hotel reservations, tick the corresponding checkbox. Make sure your email address and contact number is correct.

2.         You will receive a message from Gazelle Travel and Tours confirming the details of your request. You will also be asked to settle the bill via bank deposit before they could process the request.

3.         Pay via bank deposit. Please indicate your mobile number on the deposit slip and email a copy to Gazelle.

4.         Wait for your Flight/HotelReservation, which will be emailed to you.

Please make sure that the information you will submit are correct. This will be the basis for the travel agency when they process your request. You can make corrections until you give approval. Once you approve, the request is processed, and the reservations have been issued, you can no longer make changes. You will have to start a new request.

Visa application can be quite challenging especially if this is your first time applying for a visa. Of course, some countries are more difficult than others especially when you are applying for your visa from the so-called developing countries. Take the UK, USA, and the SCHENGEN area for an example. In most cases, they will ask you to go and get your flight itinerary and hotel booking before they can issue you visa.

Getting a flight itinerary or hotel reservation is not a guarantee that you are going to get the visa. Your application can still be denied even after meeting this requirement. Thus, it is important that you don’t pay for an actual flight ticket or for the hotel in case your application is rejected.

For example, some get a flight itinerary only for their departure date and not the date they will come back to their country. Step 1:

Record your information: Record your check in times, confirmation numbers, hotel names, and any other information you might need on hand. Don’t worry about organizing this information yet. In the meantime, focus on accumulating and documenting as much helpful information as you can think of.

Organize your travel information: Try and condense your travel information into a single document for easy access while traveling. Keep a printed copy or type the details of your itinerary into a word processing document.

•           If you prefer, you can use an online travel itinerary template. This will give you a basic set-up, so all you have to do is fill in the blanks.

•           You may also consider downloading a travel app to keep organized during your trip.

Step 3:

Keep a hard-copy: Your travel itinerary can be placed into a 3-ring binder. As convenient as an app can be, batteries can die. It never hurts to keep a physical backup handy. Use page dividers to separate documents in your trip binder into categories (rental car, tours, hotel reservations, etc.).

•           Keep your page dividers labeled. If they have tabs on them, write the category name on the tab in clear, legible writing.

•           Another alternative is a multi-pocket folder or a multi-section accordion folder.

Step 4:

Create a database: Compile a print-out or Notepad note of information for your emergency contact(s) back home, and anyspecial medical needs you or your travel companions may have.

•           If you are traveling out of the country, include the address, telephone number, and directions to your country’s embassy or consulate if applicable.

•           You may want to save a list of addresses of family and friends, so you can send them postcards from the destinations you will visit.

Step 5:

Account for Your Responsibilities: Even if you will only be gone for a weekend, it’s a good idea to make sure that everything at home will be in order and accounted for. If you have pets, plants, or will need your mail checked for an extended amount of time, ensure that a friend or family member will be there to do so. This will ultimately offer you peace of mind so you can relax and fully enjoy your vacation.

•           If you can’t find someone to come over and feed your pets, see if they can stay at a friend’s house or in a pet boarding home.

•           If someone can’t come over to water your plants, consider lending them to a friend or neighbor for a week.

The European Union has made a very clear and also strict set of guidelines for the acceptable travel insurance that an applicant for a Schengen Visa should have. • A valid passport, no older than ten years. The passport should also be valid at least three

months beyond your planned visit to Europe.

• Reservations or an itinerary. Dates and flight numbers of the planned trip/ they should specify both the date of the entrance and the departure date.

• Proof of accommodation or some evidence that shows where you will be staying during your stay in the Schengen space. A rent agreement or hotel booking proof should be-enough.

• A letter from a tour organizer, if you are traveling with a tour agency.

• Proof of finances that shows you have enough money to cover your stay in Europe. This can be bank account statements, a sponsorship letter or a combination of both. For bank statements, provide at least 6 months worth of paperwork. Providing documents such as proof of ties to your home country (rental agreements, land ownership, etc.) is also useful.

• Proof of employment: employment contract if employed, a copy of a business license,

 if self-employed, etc. However, to be sure that all proof of employment follows the demands, you could also check in with a professional agency.

• A travel itinerary, including a short cover letter describing your travel itinerary through Europe.

• Minors should also attach to their applications a birth certificate or proof of adoption and a letter of consent from parents, including passport copies of both parents.

When submitting documents, make sure you are able to show both the originals and photocopies. Most embassies do not return any documents so make sure you make copies. You can choose to book hotel directly from the hotel website but you must be ready to tackle some challenges. Here are the following challenges to consider:

a- Cancellation before the date on booking policy

Because the booking platform is designed to test the credibility of the debit card or the availability of funds on the card, it is likely for the reservation to cancel before the cancellation date on the booking policy. Some hotels attempt to charge one dollar or two, and once payment does not go through at the time, they cancel your reservation.

Do not forget that this sometimes happen after you have submitted your hotelreservation document to the embassy. And it carries a booking confirmation ID for verification. So, making another reservation to same hotel may not remedy the situation.

b- Undue debits/loss of money

As stated before, some hotels could debit your card before the date on the policy. If you book with a ‘book now, pay later’ policy it is possible that you forget to cancel before your payment date. And this could cost you a lot of money (average cost of hotel accommodation is $ 40 per night!). Same thing goes for booking a refundable accommodation/room. You would have to endure cancellations fees, which would not make sense to you especially if your visa is denied because of other factors.

c- Shallow hotel reservation caused by ‘book without credit card policy’

Sometimes, a reservation is not concrete because an applicant decided to do a ‘book without credit card policy’. This is not difficult to figure out. Most hotels service their clients on first come, first served basis. While a visa applicant makes a ‘book without credit card policy’ booking on hotel website, another client walks into the hotel building, pays cash and demands the same room. Do you think the hotel will still keep the space for a ‘book without credit card’ customer?! (We also do not think so.)

4- Hotel reservation may not be paid for

After all that has been said, the embassy still does not expect you to pay for the actual hotel accommodation fees just to apply for visa. If the hotel can help you keep an accommodation without you making payment, then the embassy is fine with it.

The embassy is just being fair and protecting themselves. They understand that visa is not guaranteed upon application and would not be responsible for your loss. We would speculate that this is entirely how many embassies have been able to dodge law-suites for all these years. Because, seriously, many would have sued embassies for refusal after paying for proof of hotel accommodation (if necessitated by embassies).

Schengen visas are usually given for short periods of time. Usually it is issued for a 3 month period once in six months. For a longer period of time, so called national-visas are required.

Schengenvisas are issued for visit or business purpose. National visas are granted forstudy or work purpose.

The Schengen visa allows traveling on the territory of the Schengen states (Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary).

Schengen visa cannot be extended or re-written for any other purpose. Only in very exceptional circumstances when an extension is possible, for example, when a medical treatment is urgently needed.

People who come to study or research in Germany are advised to not only get a Schengen visa, because with the visa, residence permit may be required or not fundamentally rewritten. After the visa expiry, the foreign visitors must immediately leave the country.

Applications for a visa can also be found on most German embassy sites.

Under Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council of 13 July 2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code), following documents are required.

•           An application form,

•           A valid travel document,

•           A photography,

•           Documentary Evidence of sponsorship and a place to stay is required,

•           Evidence of travel medical insurance possession.

After the application has been accepted, it will take 15 working days after the submission to get the answer. In exceptional cases, it may take longer. Visa can be issued, refused or issued for limited territory validity. In cases of representation of another Schengen Member State, the applicant is required to not continue the application on the relevant authorities of the represented Schengen member states.

A Schengen visa is refused if the applicant:

•           Submitting a false travel document;

•           The purpose and the conditions of the intended stay was not justified;

•           Do not provide evidence that has sufficient resources to pay for living and return to their own countries.

•           Has exhausted the timeframe of three months during the current six-month period already;

•           SIS (Refusing entry Schengen Information) has been issued;

•           It is considered as a threat to public policy, internal security or public health on any Schengen State;

•           Do not prove that has and adequate travel insurance, if it is required;

•           Do not submit enough evidence or make statements that put the credibility and authenticity in doubt;

MAWISTA is focused on specialized health insurance for foreigners in Germany. For Schengen visa, a special insurance cover has been developed. A special feature is that the insurance coverage for the Schengen visa is valid for 12 months. Duration of the timeframe that the visa was allowed.

Ex: The desired contract starts from 01.12.2012 and it is valid for 92 days.
